Works

Inspired by an in game moment from my DND campaign, here is my character, Saf (right), and a party member, Sally (left), as they share a moment after completing a job. This illustration captures a moment of comfort as this particular adventure dug up some memories Saf would like to forget.

A dynamic pose study turned full illustration as I was riding the high of nailing a character design I really loved. As Saf is a barbarian, wielding and swinging an oversized weapon is to be expected.

As I began to develop Saf as a character, I decided to explore her family and home life. I felt that a typical family portrait could be a fun way to introduce her parents. Saf is a healthy half and half of both her parents and I felt showcasing that to be of utmost importance.

half body illustration of the blue haired half elf with tan lines and sunburn
A while ago, there was an art trend going around of artists drawing their favourite characters using this specific reference of a model that looked terribly sun burnt and I used it as inspiration to get out of an art rut.

As part of Saf's backstory, she found herself in a sticky situation that had her arrested and jailed for a short while. As a way to introduce this event to my DND group, I drew a mugshot to accompany the writing I posted. I find having visuals helps me convey story events better than just words.

Moving beyond just Saf, my DM announced that we could develop a second character for this campaign that we could switch between and thus Verena was born. My goal for her was to be as different as possible from Saf and so I've landed with a Tiefling warlock.

Tracked time: 5 hours 47 minutes
To match the illustration of Saf that greets you on the home page, I felt it only fair that Verena gets a fancy dress illustration too. I love formal dresses aesthetically and thus drawing them is one of my favourite things. It works particularly well for Verena given her upbringing and status.

Since making Verena a spell caster, it opened up opportunities for some fun illustrations with magic. Here is my first stab at it as Verena is building up the power to shoot out the classic DND warlock spell: Eldritch Blast.

Diving into paid commissions, here is a Hobgoblin rogue with a certain 1920s mobster aesthetic. The client had a specific vision for him and we worked closely to nail it down and here is where we landed.

This commission was slightly different than the previous one as it required me to draw a crow's head. While animals may not be my specialty, I knew I had to give it a shot. I landed somewhere I feel worked well for the character the client was building and I felt I could match my own style well.

Tracked time: 3 hours 18 minutes
This commission was bought for as a gift for someone. Here, I had the chance to work with the proportions of a Halfling character which proved to be a challenge. In the end, we landed here and the person who received the illustration loved it.

Here is one of my first paid commissions of a Tiefling bard with a particular sense of humour. This one in particular was very fun as I really enjoyed the kind of character that was requested. The magical hand was a later addition that I'm quite glad made it through.
